Painting is just another way of keeping a diary.

Artist Bio

Currently living in Athens, GA, I’m an oil and mixed media based painter whose work explores the emotional terrain where cinematic storytelling and real life collide. I am actively completing my MFA in Painting at Savannah College of Art and Design while maintaining an active studio practice that has developed through both academic and personal growth. Drawing from film stills, personal archives, and found media, my paintings examine themes of love, identity, vulnerability, and human connection. Through expressive stylization and deliberate mark-making, I blur the line between fiction and reality—inviting viewers into suspended, emotionally charged spaces that feel both dreamlike and achingly familiar. My goal is to capture fleeting moments that echo the fragile beauty of everyday life.

Though I feel like I’ve always been an artist, my relationship with it started long before formal training. As a child, I gravitated toward solitary creative activities—reading, drawing, painting, pottery, and dance—while the pressures of more traditional hobbies like team sports felt foreign and overwhelming. Despite my early interest in the arts, my passion dimmed as I got older and I feared I may never feel the way I once did. But by the end of my high school career, my passion for art was reignited by a painting class I took haphazardly. That experience, and the encouragement of my teacher, reshaped what I thought I knew about myself and allowed me to realize my dream of becoming an artist.

My path hasn’t always been clear. I began college unsure of what I wanted from life, struggling with mental health challenges and a persistent sense of uncertainty. Choosing to attend the University of Alabama was unexpected for both myself and those who knew me, but it became the setting for one of the most formative chapters of my life. Art was the constant I clung to when everything else felt unstable. It was my outlet, my refuge, and ultimately my purpose.

I earned my BFA in painting and printmaking with a minor in art history from the University of Alabama in 2022. Though the environment was often difficult, it shaped me into the artist I am today—resilient, curious, and committed to storytelling through painting. My work continues to evolve, but at its core, it’s always been about capturing the quiet, powerful moments that define what it means to be human.

Artist Statement

Using oil paint alongside mixed media elements—such as tissue paper, torn book pages, and molding paste—I create textured, layered works that explore the intersection of film and real life. My art delves into themes of love, relationships, identity, and vulnerability, drawing inspiration from classic romantic comedies like My Best Friend’s Wedding, Notting Hill, When Harry Met Sally, and Pretty Woman. These films act as both muse and metaphor, offering a nostalgic lens through which I examine the intricacies of human connection.

Much like rewatching a favorite movie for the comfort of its predictability—knowing every outcome, every line of dialogue—my work invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences with love and loss. It’s in that familiarity, that repetition, that we often find new meaning or healing, seeing our past heartbreaks and joys with fresh eyes.
